In 1899, Scott Joplin partnered up with publisher Jon Stark to release the song "Maple Leaf Rag". This song was his biggest hit. It sold over a million copies and became the most popular ragtime song of all time. The exact release date of this song is unknown, but most say it was released sometime between August 20th and September 10th. Joplin would later go on to release more piano tunes such as “The Entertainer” and Cleopha. Together these songs would earn him his title as the “King of Ragtime”
