Even though they were publicly warned not to by the Chinese, the UN forces were able to reach the Chinese border at the Yalu River by Thanksgiving of 1950. Then, 300,000 Chinese forces attacked across the border on November 25, 1950, forcing back the badly outnumbered UN troops.
