With the Declaration of Independence, the thirteen colonies separated themselves from the British rule. They also confirmed their alliance with the French so ten they can get help from them to fight against Great Britain. In the declaration, it summarizes why they are separating themselves from Britain, like that they didn't exactly like that they didn't have a say in things and they considered the colonies are lower than the rest of what Great Britain rules.
