12 ene 703 año aC - Capital moved
(again)
to Nineveh
Descripción:
Nineveh is one of the most well-known cities of ancient Mesopotamia. The capital was moved here since Sargon II died an embarrassing death in battle and the Assyrians believed that to be a curse. Nineveh flourished under Sennacherib and his successors until it was razed in 612 BCE. Some historians believe that the extravagant gardens were prototypes to the Hanging Gardens of Babylon or even the Hanging Gardens themselves (Mark, “Nineveh”).
