1 ene 1913 año - Rutherford Model

Descripción:

The Rutherford Model is the ultimate result of his Gold Foil experiment, where he used a lead block (in which contained a source that emitted the alpha particle), a sheet of gold foil 2,000 atoms thick, and a zinc sulfide coated screen to surround the foil itself. When shooting the alpha particles through the foil he found that some of the rays went straight through where others deflected it; he found that where areas of the atom were composed of empty space, others were composed of positively as well as negatively charged particles.
This experiment aided in the development of his atomic model, where the atom is represented as a particle with a small, positively charged nucleus surrounded by a cloud of several negatively charged particles: electrons. This ultimately suggested that Thomson's model was incorrect.
