On May 11, 1930, in an effort to promote radio broadcasting as a teaching medium, the Rockefeller Foundation and the Carnegie Foundation organized and funded the National Advisory Council for Radio in Education (NACRE) (Buckland & Dye, 1991; New York Public Library, n. d).
