President Bill Clinton (a democrat) signed this bill to a law. This law made it illegal to: “remove any of the fins of a shark (including the tail) and discard the carcass of the shark at sea; have custody, control, or possession of any such fin aboard a fishing vessel without the corresponding carcass; or land any such fin without the corresponding carcass.” Shark finning continues to be illegal in US waters, and no big changes have been made to the law. I chose this law because I believe that it is important to stop shark finning altogether, because it’s so cruel. It was also easy to obtain plenty of information about the topic.
