Henry Cavendish was an English philosopher, scientist and chemist famous discovering hydrogen. His experiment consisted of him mixing metal with acid, which produced a flammable gas(hydrogen). He also discovered that his gas would burn in oxygen and produce water and until that time, water was thought to be an element which it isn't but instead a compound.
