Chinese Immigrants were banned from America because they were declared "ineligible for naturalization". For 10 years they were not allowed in the U.S., but the Chinese workers that were already there, challenged the act, causing it to fail. But eventually the act was renewed and Chinese immigration was illegal, soon after this act was in place again, other Asian immigrants were facing ineligibility for citizenship.
