These tiny ancestors, though they may be small, are already bipedal. They did not make tools, but used objects they found such as sticks and bones. They had brains the size of an orange and did not hunt, because they were too small, but they survived on other foods, such as fruit. They lived around 5-1 million years ago, so they overlapped Homo Habilis and Homo Erectus. Based on Lucy's skeleton, I can infer that the Australopithecus were very small. I can also infer, based on the video, that Australopithecus was definitely on its way to being human; they had many things in common with both chimps and humans. Australopithecus stayed in Africa, and did not migrate away.
