The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire was a very deadly industrial disaster. This fire was caused by a cigaret, which was not properly put out, that fell onto the dirty, cloth filled ground. As the fire spread, the female workers inside attempted to escape but they were unsuccessful due to many things. The doors were locked by owners prior to the fire, the fire escape steps broke, and the elevators stopped working after only a few trips. This fire caused the death of 146 workers.
