Descripción:
Confucius' philosophy, known as Confucianism, was one of many competing philosophies during the time of the "hundred schools of thought." Confucianism began to be implemented at a government level during the Han dynasty and, though not practiced at a government level since the early 20th century, continues to be an influence in Chinese culture to this day. Confucianism focuses on several core values and the belief that individuals exhibiting the values, known as Junzi, are superior and should be in charge of the government. These values are known as ren, li, and xiao. Ren is humanity, Li is respect and courtesy, and Xiao is filial piety. The value of Li specifically calls for individuals to show respect to their superior as defined by the 5 key relationships of Confucianism which are ruler to subject, husband to wife, father to son, elder brother to younger brother, and friend to friend. Confucianism also places a large emphasis on the importance of education. (2.1)(2.2)
