Television was first successfully demonstrated by Philo Farnsworth in 1927. He demonstrated a 60-horizontal line image of a dollar bill. Being the first person to do this, he then applied for and earned the patent for an all-electronic TV in 1927. He was a visionary, and even talked about the hopes for high defintion in an interview in the 1950's, where he talks about hoping to expand to bandwidth of television from 525 lines to 2000.
