Hot Wheels is a brand of attractive toy cards that were a popular collectible item. Their physical appearance was one reason why they were one of the most successful toy cars. The first year that Hot Wheels was available for sale was in 1968. The cars were instantly a hot item, and every young boy asked for Hot Wheels for birthdays and holidays.

It was mainly boys between the ages 5-12 who collected Hot Wheels, however there were older car enthusiasts who bought these toy cars as well.
