star wars is a revolutionary film for a multitude of reasons one being its use of practical and special effects which revolutionised the industry as when Lucas made these films the effects he wanted to use didn't exist so Lucas with his vfx company industrial lights and magic created some ground special effect with both minuter and cgi for example the death star plans where they have actors looking at a fully CGI wire frame image and they added a great deal to the action sequences e.g. the trench run and vader vs obiwan. star wars also pushed the science fiction genera in a different way leaning more on the fantastical elements of science fiction. what star wars did for the industry developing special effects further than ever before
