The principal aim of this intergovernmental organisation is to prevent another conflict similar to the Second World War. It also wants to maintain international peace and security, promote human rights, foster social and economic development, protect the environment and provide humanitarian aid in cases of famine, natural disaster and armed conflict. At the beginning, this organisation has 51 member states.
