The marvel cinematic universe began with iron man in 2008, this started of a massively popular universe that people know worldwide. They have just finished their 20th film in the cinematic universe and have revolutionised the superhero genre with team-up films and also the idea of creating a universe in which all films link together. It costed marvel around $300 million USD and they grossed $2.047 billion USD worldwide which is the highest grossing film ever made.
The marvel cinematic universe came around from Kevin Feige decided that unlike spider-man or x-men, whose film rights are to Sony and Fox, Marvel still owned the rights to the core members of the avengers. Feige envisioned the creation of a shared universe for all the marvel owned superheroes to use. Marvel could then use that universe as a sandbox and could do anything they please with their characters and the environment. The Russo brothers play a big part in this universe as they are directors of the first two Captain America films and Infinity War. Because each film leading up to Infinity War all link together in the third Avengers, They are responsible for the context of the characters in Infinity War meaning they will need to be smart and creative to ensure the previous films tie into Infinity War as a whole cinematic universe.
