It was not later that Caliph Yazid I , Muawiya's son, reappointed Uqba' as the governor of Ifriqiya which is now in Tunisia. Uqba then reached to Tangier which located at north Morocco where he opened Maghreb through alliances and treaties with Berbers. Meanwhile, Berber chief named Kusaila already converted to Islam under al-Muhajir. Somehow, Kusaila then was taken as captive by Uqba but then he managed to fled. Kusaila then gathered some Berber warriors and attacked Uqba when he was on his way back from Tangier to Qayrawan. Assumption been made because the Berbers were once an enemy with the Muslim. Hence, it is possible for Kusaila wanted to vengeance Uqba due to social or political reason. Uqba was ambushed and killed in Biskra ( Algeria), and his death gave repercussion towards Qayrawan when they decided to evacuate. Later, Kusaila founded a Berber kingdom and stay there until 686.
