This case began when Cumming, Harper, and Ladeveze tried to sue the Richmond board of education that it was illegal for only white kids to go to highschool. The plaintiffs created a petition for this but the board of education dismissed it which led the plaintiffs to plead to the supreme court. The case took place between October to December of 1899, and had the Supreme Court favoring the board of education. They stated that there just wasn’t enough money for both whites and colored children.
