Title IX was originally created in the Civil Rights Act of 1964, but did not apply to educational institutions. Therefore, in relation to education it was introduced as a part of the Education Amendments of 1972, signed into law by Richard Nixon. Title IX prohibits discrimination based off of sex by any educational institution or program receiving federal aid. It has since been redefined to protect sexual assault victims and transgender people.Añadido al timeline:
