28 mar 1774 año - Coercive Acts

Descripción:

After the Boston Tea Party and other instances of colonists destroying British goods, Parliament enacted the Coercive Acts, known as the “Intolerable Acts,” in March of 1774. This act closed the port of Boston until damages for the Boston Tea Party were paid, restricted Massachusetts’ democratic government, and turned the governor’s council into an appointed assembly. In addition, British officers in Massachusetts were protected from criminal prosecution, and colonists were required to quarter British troops. This act caused more anger from the colonists towards Britain and led to increased resistance.
