5 abr 1764 año - Sugar Act of 1764
Descripción:
The Sugar Act of 1764 was designed by British parliament to eliminate the illegal trade of sugar trade between North American colonies and the French and Spanish West Indies. They raised the duty on sugar and lowered the duties on molasses, which damaged the market for colony grown sugar. The Sugar Act also established new vice-admiralty courts in America. These courts tried accused smugglers and denied them a jury. The colonist were angry because parliament enforced these taxes without colonist consent.
