This case was a landmark decision of the US Supreme Court issued in 1896. It upheld the constitutionality of racial segregation laws for public facilities, this ended in a doctrine that became known as "seperate but equal". This became a conflict because at this time the blacks were starting to get equal rights but there were people still very against blacks.
