1 ene 1628 año - Petition of Right

Descripción:

The struggles brought on by the constitutional issues of seventeenth-century England led to many important events. One of these events produced a constitutional document that was almost as important as the Magna Carta. This document was the Petition of Right. During this time in England, King Charles sought to raise funds without the consent of Parliament. One of the ways in which he did that was by trying to force money from his subjects through illegal pressures. In 1628 Parliament forced King Charles to consent to the Petition of Right which stated that taxes could only be raised with the consent of Parliament. It also guaranteed the people other rights such as a prohibition against requiring people to quarter soldiers in their homes.

This constitutional document was again used in creating the US Constitution which says something along the lines of "no taxation without representation". Other ideas outlined in the Petition of Right were also connected to the Magna Carta in that they were both a confirmation of the ancient rights that all people have.
