After finally being approved, China officially joined the WTO in 2001. This was a major step for China and it's economy as it is the most populous country and has a large market. Joining the World Trade Organization meant regularizing shipments to other countries and vice versa which kick-started China's massive economy. China joining the WTO also meant they were willing to build diplomatic relations with other countries.Añadido al timeline:
