17 mayo 1954 año - Brown v. Board of Education

Descripción:

This case was the consolidation of four cases arising in separate states relating to the segregation of public schools based on race. In each of the cases, African American minors had been denied to certain public schools based on laws allowing public education to be segregated by race such as the "separate but equal" doctrine. They argued that such segregation violates the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. The Supreme Court ruled that this was in fact a violation of the 14th Amendment and that the segregation of schools based on race had a detrimental effect on the African American children. This case was an increase of federal power because the states were denied of segregation. Every state had to allow the intergration of multiple races into public schools because it gives the right in the Constitution.
