c. 1505- "There were Portuguese ships that were looking for a convenient and easy sea route to India. On their journey, they realized that the east African states were very wealthy. Since the Portuguese’s main goal was to come out with a prosperous profit, they decided to conquer the city-states in East/South Africa and take over their successful trade. Kilwa was one of the city-states that the Portuguese dominated at this time.
