Pepper is framed for the murder of her sister's baby and is sent to Briarcliff Asylum.
Pepper regularly took care of the baby and cared very dearly for the child. Unfortunately, when her sister and brother-in-law grew tired of the screaming and crying, they killed the baby and framed Pepper for the crime. Pepper's sister also resides in MA.
