Helped to create a more unified Spain through marriage. Together, they pursued a common foreign policy and created a council based not around nobility but lesser landowners. They also expanded into America and southern Spain. However, they also created ideas of blood purity, expelling Jews and Muslims through the inquisition to create a Catholic-dominated country.
