Announced in January 2007, the Apple iPhone was released to the public and revolutionized the phone industry. This was followed by the iPhone 3G the following year, and many more to come in the near future.

I chose this as it has greatly influenced the lifestyles of our generation. Due to the fact that they are accessible and highly versatile machines. It's hard not to find people that don't own smartphones. I also chose this because the iPhone gave birth to a new chapter in the phone industry (with smartphones being the new focus) while also influencing many other industries/companies to implement touch-screens into their products.
