Once again Sponsored by the Spanish Monarchs, Conquistador Hernando Cortés set out to explore the New World, more specifically southern Mexico. Cortes then discovered the Aztecs, a civilisation he described as a large kingdom of non christians settled on a lake with large amounts of gold and wealth. To conquer the Aztecs, the Spaniards allied with other tribes that opposed the Aztecs and their superior technology. Disease likely also had a massive part to play in the collapse of the Mexican Civilisation.
