Colorado becomes the first state to allow legal and safe abortions. This was the first time in long time that women could have an abortion without the dangerous risks of infection and/or death. Women still had to have the approval of parents or a spouse but the rights were still established and conducted. It is significant because it was the first state to restart the legalization of abortion.
