The Russian diplomat dies in London two days before Litvinenko's poisoning. After a visit to the opera, he complained of desparate thirst before collapsing. He was to meet with an associate of Litvinenko's, Italian security consultant Mario Scaramella, the next day. His body was returned to Russia before an autopsy could take place.
