In 1690 he helped establish parts of Texas.
The San Francisco de los Tejas mission was built. He spent lots of his life in Mexico. in 1693, after continued arguments with the Caddo Indians, Father Damian Massanet chose to burn the mission and return to Mexico. Discouraged by his time in Texas, he declined later requests to found other missions. He helped in the first steps of colonizing Texas, and Spain's move forward.
