Ballet Originated in 1500 in Italy but was brought to the French courts by Catherine de Medici, where it was introduced to Louis XIV in France. Court of ballet was used in politics, to reinforce community, and unity within the court. Dancing ballet with the king showed that you agreed with him. Later when ballet moved into more of an entertainment, it was used to show power and reinforce ideas.
