The industrial and scientific advancements during this time caused the need for neologisms to be created in order to describe these inventions. introducing a new semantic field to the people living in this time. This need for new words relied heavily on the classical languages, Latin and Greek in which scholars of the period were usually well versed. Lots of these new words were created from Latin and Greek Roots. Lens, refraction, chromosome, electron, centigrade and bacteria are some examples of new words created during this time of scientific revolution.
