Satish Padiyar is to be complimented for his iconological study of DAVID's famous painting, his last work as announced by himself and owned by the Royal Museum of Fine Arts of Belgium, Brussels, inv nr 3261.See note (1) below.
I leave it to scholars to comment on Padiyar's very sophisticated interpretation, but I note that in paragraph 39 of his article Padiyar discusses only briefly the possible ironical or subversive meaning of the painting and he recognizes: <The whole question requires more attention.>
