When Malcolm X was released from prison he changed his last name from Little to the symbolic X which stand for all the original african surnames forgotten and erased by slave owners. The name change symbolized the new dedication he had to the nation to islam rapidly gaining more authority he opened two of his own temples within two years and became the president of their Harlem temple. In Harlem he became a well known spokes person for the nation of islam and began getting picked up by broader news sources. During this time Malcolm X preached about black supremacy, how white people were the devil and would inevitably die. He focused on black separatism and increased the Nation of Islams following quickly.
