19 feb 1963 año - Feminine Mystique

Descripción:

Feminine Mystique was one of the most popular books in 1964, with over 1 million copies sold. It came from what was supposed to be a survey that the author was did with her graduating class at their 15 year reunion. What she found was that many of these women were not content with their suburban housewife life. This lead to a greater study in which the author, Betty Friedan, interviewed many suburban housewives and started doing research on psychology and the impact of media and advertising. It is credited with starting modern feminism. As these women stepped away from their traditional housewife roles, they saw the large pay gap between them and their male coworkers or husbands and that lead to the equal pay act.
