Descripción:

The US won the war against Mexico and gained huge new territories in the west.
This meant that the Indian Territory was directly in the middle of US Territories.
The government wanted settlers to move west, but this would mean having to cross Indian Territory which had previously been promised to be prohibited from the whites.
The government changed the policy concerning this and settlers began migrating.
The army ensured the safety of settlers and forced Indians to move away from trails.
