On May 4th, 1970, 4 students were killed while 9 others were injured when members of the Ohio National Guard fired into a crowd of unarmed students. The National Guardsmen fired during a mass protest against the bombing in Cambodia. As a result, many schools throughout the United States shut down due to student strikes.
