In 1963, the Equal Pay Act was signed into a law by President John F. Kennedy, and aimed to diminished the wage gap between both men and women. This act enabled equal pay for equal work, meaning if that a man and woman doing the same job, with the same skills and responsibilities should get the same pay. This act was apart of JFK’s New Frontier Program in 1963. After the Equal Pay act of 1963, in 1964 the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was created. This act further amplified the right for women in the work place, and aiming to eliminating discrimination of sex in employment.
