This was a court case in a federal circuit court in California and it was about segregation within schools. A few families in the Westminster school district got together, Mendez being one of the leaders, and challenged the discrimination that their children were facing in the school district. It was much before brown v board of education but they also ruled that segregation in hispanic and white schools was unconstitutional. Mendez was the one arguing that it was unconstitutional and he won.
