In Mississippi on June 12th, 1963, Medgar Evers was shot by Byron De La Beckwith, a white supremacist. Medgar Evers was a civil rights leader and spent his time volunteering with the US Army. During the trial an all-white jury and Bryon was set free. 30 years later, the trial was reopened and Bryon was found guilty of the murder, he was then sentenced to life in prison.
