President Roosevelt died of a stroke on February 12,1945,leaving his vice president Harry S. Truman in charge of a country still fighting WW2 and in possession of a weapon of unprecedented and terrifying power. Shockingly, FDR had left Truman in the dark about the bomb's development and it was not until after Roosevelt's death that Truman learned of the Manhattan Project.
