found buried in the templo mayor
created 1500 years before the Aztecs (by the olmecs)
buried as an offering
distant in terms of time and geography-- olmecs thrived along the the southern east coast of mexico as compared to the aztecs who lived in central mexico
Aztecs had REVERENCE for other cultures
trade networks
obviously had importance or it wouldn't have been preserved then sacrificed in the first place
