"royal blood letting" lintel #24 (?): queen/lady k'abal xook pulls a thorned rope through her tongue, the pierced tongue allows blood to flow as part of a ritual communication w/ gods and spirits (effort to maintain power and order). this was a common practice for the elite. lintels were once painted/ had pigment
