13 ene 2017 año - New York Couple Encounters Border Patrol

Descripción:

In January, a New York couple was crossing the border from Canada to the United States. The couple had already given the Border Patrol their cellphones for an "unwarranted search" and are now being asked for the phones a second time. This time, Akram Shibly refused to surrender his phone and was met with consequences. The border patrol officer "placed him in a chokehold and removed his cellphone". The significance of this event is that it shows Americans that the rights you have under search and seizures, regarding your phone, may not be as clear to you as you think. People assume that they're protected by the Fourth Amendment, but there are slight exceptions throughout the law.
