After the United States banned the sales of war materials, such as iron, steel, and oil to Japan while they were advancing into French Indochina and the Dutch Indies in 1940 they became very angry at America. Japan believed the United States would interfere with their plans of seizing more lands in Asia and the Pacific. Then on December 7th, 1941, General Tojo ordered a surprise attack on the United States and Japanese airplanes bombed the American Fleet at Pearl Harbor. Approximately 2,400 innocent American civilians died from this attack.Añadido al timeline:
