The Detroit Riots during the summer of 1967 were the most destructive and violent riots of any during the civil rights movement. The riots were again in response to the poverty stricken African American community along with the discrimination towards them. The riots left around 43 people dead, 342 injured and called in some 7,000 national guard soldiers to aid the state police in stopping the riots.
